We all have those days when we want to go home, kick up our feet, and indulge in a bowl of ice cream. In our instant gratification culture, it is also easy for us to adopt a false belief that any suffering means we have done something wrong. However, we live in a fallen world where suffering, to a certain extent, is unavoidable.

Our pursuit of pleasure and ease can become an ultimate thing—an idol. The comfort idol drives us to do anything to feel good and avoid difficult emotions. It keeps us from being able to function and harms us and others. This month's toolkit explores how to recognize the deep idol of comfort and help those who struggle with it.
