Vanessa Li, Ph.D.
Vanessa Li earned her Ph.D. at the Derner School of Psychology at Adelphi University after a first career in public health research and surveillance. Vanessa is well-versed in psychodynamic case formulation, cognitive behavioral (CBT), dialectical behavioral (DBT), mindfulness modalities as well as Prepare/Enrich premarital counseling. She works with clients who struggle with anxiety, self doubt, procrastination, negative intrusive thoughts and relationship difficulties.
She has been fortunate to train in some of the most challenging environments in New York city, including the psychiatric facility at Bellevue Hospital Center, where she completed her pre-doctorate internship.
Raised in Hong Kong and England, Vanessa is especially sensitive to biculturalism. She is fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese and can offer native-language therapy to Chinese speakers. Additionally, she serves on the board of several community-based non- profit organizations in Manhattan's Chinatown.
Vanessa is also committed to combatting mental-health stigma among immigrants as she continues her research by using culturally appropriate interventions. Vanessa enjoys reading, playing tennis and learning about different cultures and traveling.
